CLANCY JARVIS
smoke manipulation ![]() BIODATA
Name: Clancy Jarvis
Age: 32 Canon: Resident Evil Canon Point: At the end of the "Happy Birthday!" video tape, after his death. Appearance: Here Birthday: Unknown Height/Weight: Specifics unknown; tall, lanky, scrawny. Canon Abilities: N/A History: Wiki Page Personality: Despite being restricted to only bonus DLC modes and two in-game puzzle sections, the developers of RE7 managed to give Clancy enough detail to flesh him out as a standalone character, similar to (or sometimes even more so,) the game's main protagonist, Ethan. He first appears in the video "Derelict House footage," initially included in the game's demo and then found again in the main game, where we find out that Clancy had been a last-minute hire as a cameraman for a paranormal investigation television show called Sewer Gators. The only other members of the show are the producer, Andre, and the main host, Pete. It's obvious from Pete's derogatory comments towards Clancy that he's not a particularly professional cameraman - "Where'd you find this guy?" - but Clancy doesn't let the guy get him down. He has an eager sense of curiosity and adventure, as he's willing to go along with two complete strangers to a supposedly abandoned and haunted house in the middle of the night to help film a TV episode for a show he's never heard of. It's just a pity that such an adventurous spirit would inevitably be his downfall. What starts out as a simple late-night exploration project turns into a desperate fight for his life, and Clancy doesn't go down without giving it everything he's got, whether it be cunning and brute strength or playing nice and acting like he belongs there. The members of the Baker family truly terrify him, after experiencing first hand what becomes of his crewmates - he discovers Andre's dead body only moments before being captured by Jack Baker, and Pete is horrifically murdered in front of him as the television host attempted to free him. Unfortunately for Clancy, there's something about him that a certain member of the Baker family takes interest in, and it only gets worse for him from there. Even though Clancy's appearances in RE7 are limited, we do learn enough about his personality through his dialogue and actions in that short period of time. He has a passion for film and cinematography, as well as an interest in the paranormal and darker sides of humanity. Not everybody would be willing to go out to an abandoned house in the middle of the night with two complete strangers, after all. It's fairly likely that the outing with the Sewer Gators isn't Clancy's first film project, and his sense of curiousity and adventure tends to get the better of him, even if he is working with a jerk or two. We find out more about the type of person Clancy really is once he's captured by the Baker family. While captive, he has to face each member of the crazed family (save for Zoe, the only family member still sane and in hiding,) and they all have different tactics Clancy quickly adapts to. In Nightmare, Jack locks Clancy in the basement of the house, leaving him alone to fend off hordes of mutated rotting creatures known as Molded, and eventually Jack himself. There's a limited amount of resources at his disposal, but with quick thinking and tactical planning, Clancy has the know-how to set up traps and keep his weapons loaded to fight them off. Throughout the night, Clancy talks to himself and remains determined to get out alive - "I am not dying down here!" - and he's able to survive until the following morning. In Bedroom, Clancy is forced to deal with Marguerite Baker, and he's quick to notice she requires a very different approach. With Jack, he's already angry, and violence is the only solution. But Marguerite plays the role of the warm, welcoming mama, only with a very quick temper and it's far too easy to get on her bad side. Clancy figures out that he has to watch his words and actions around her, and plays up to her good side in order to save his life. He's just convincing enough of an actor to escape Marguerite's wrath, while admitting his real thoughts to himself once he's left alone, and even trying to make light of a bad situation now and then - "Ugh, gotta love home cooking." A decent memory with equally decent puzzle solving skills help him figure a way out, only to be unfortunately caught by Lucas, and subjected to the worst that the youngest Baker has to offer. Both 21 and Happy Birthday see Clancy face off with Lucas - though not directly, as Lucas keeps his distance and instead forces Clancy through disturbing, torturous games and puzzles. With Marguerite, he knew better than to say what he's really thinking, but to Lucas, Clancy doesn't hold anything back. He has no problem telling him what a twisted psychopath the guy is, in more colourful terms, and fear gives way to anger the more Lucas taunts him. These two chapters show even more that Clancy's determined to survive and escape by whatever means, and unfortunately those means involve playing by the rules given to him. Lucas clearly takes a lot of enjoyment out of watching Clancy's suffering, but in the end he still praises the guy for figuring it all out. It's just a shame that the very last puzzle to solve results in Clancy's slow and drawn out death, burning alive in a locked room with no true means of escape after all. It's hinted at in the game that Evie, the true mastermind behind the insanity in the Baker family, saw something in Clancy that would make him a better "big brother" to her than Lucas. Evie's powers are controlling the Baker's, in a way, and her desire to have a real family causes her to have potential other members of her twisted family kidnapped and brought to the house for her to infect and control. As such, we can likely determine that before the whole ordeal began, Clancy had plenty of good big brother qualities that Evie liked about him. He's protective, determined, able to crack a few jokes and play games, everything Evie's looking for and doesn't have in Lucas. And we can very likely determine that Lucas knew that he was going to be replaced, and that's why he had Clancy solve a puzzle under false pretense that he'd be set free after. Lucas had to make sure that Clancy would be out of the picture for good, and that's why the Happy Birthday puzzle was a death trap in the end. GAME INFO

Price: The camera and video tapes of all the footage Clancy recorded of the events that occurred at the Baker residence Acceptance Month: August 2017 Acclimation Level: #5. While never having been transported to another world before, going from a normal life to suddenly being stuck with the Baker family definitely has a "now I’ve seen everything" sort of vibe. Clancy will definitely be confused and uneasy at first, but he’s shown that he’s determined to survive no matter what, even though it didn’t work out for him in the end.
